Two Feldgendarmerie raids took place in Różanka in September and October 1941; both raids were accompanied by killings of Jews. The first raid fell on the holiday of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year), and the FG and SS men killed any Jews who tried to flee the town. During the second raid, in October 1941, the chief of the FG assembled the Jews in the market square; while they were sitting there, he conducted searches in their homes, and the searchers helped themselves to the Jews' property. In the square, the Nazis killed Rabbi Yosef Lis and several prominent members of the community. The rest of the Jews were ordered to surrender their money and valuables and go home. Both raids preceded the deportation of the Jews of Różanka to the Szczuczyn Ghetto.
