Murder Story of Novograd Volynskiy Jews on the Sluch River Bank in Novograd Volynskiy

Sluch River Bank in Novograd Volynskiy
Ukraine (USSR)
The final liquidation of the ghetto population was carried out in November 1942 or, probably later, in winter - spring 1943, when the women and the children who had not succeeding in escaping and being taken in by partisans units, were taken from the ghetto and shot. While the survivors' testimonies do not indicate the precise location of the murder site, German documents state that Jewish women and children who were members of the families of artisans who still remained alive in the Novograd Volynskiy ghetto were shot on the bank of the Sluch River. The total number of victims was 80. According to the same source, the shooting was carried out in the spring of 1943.

According to Soviet documents in the spring of 1943 80 women and children from Novograd Volynskiy were shot. Their bodies were found in a grave near the Sluch River. They [the victims] must have been Jewish. Earlier, entire families of Jewish artisans and specialists had remained alive. At the latest, in the fall 1942 non-working members of Jewish artisans' families from all over the region Commissariat were murdered.
