About 200 Jewish men from Novograd Volynskiy were shot in a bomb crater next to the garden of the Residential care facility located on Chekhov Street. The operation was carried out by Einzatskommando 5, in Jul or, according to other sources, in August, 1941. Soviet reports state that at least four shootings of groups of about 50 people were carried out at this murder site.

... To the right, across the road on the same street [Chekhov Street], in the garden of the Residential care facility a similar bomb crater was found. It was half filled with earth. The same witnesses testified about the four times when groups of 40-50 civilians were brought here and shot above the crater. Taking into consideration the testimonies of the witnesses … and the size of the bomb craters – and examination of the graves and the corpses the Commission concluded that the number of victims brutally shot by the Germans in the area of the MTS and in the yard of the Residential care facility was more than 1,000. Most of the shooting victims were ofJewish origin…. In a similar large bombing crater in the garden of the Residential care facilitiy there are about 200 bodies, mainly of men....
Varvara Yatsuk, who was born in 1899 and lived in Novograd Volynskiy during the war years, testified:
In the month of July 1941, on Chekhov Street near the Residential care facility, at the distance of about 60 meters from my house, a group consisting oly of men, numbering 50 people, was shot. I personally witnessed the Germans shooting these people. I saw it from the window of my house. I also heard screaming and the shooting.
