The German administration and the local police forces, which collaborated with the Nazis, spread the information that the Jews from the west who had sought refuge in the village Kurskaya, the village of Menzhinskaya, and other villages close to Kurskaya were going to be relocted to the city of Kislovodsk and should, therefore, prepare their belongings. The Jews who were in Kurskay were told that they would be allowed to take no more than 32 kilograms per person, while those in Menzhinskaya and the surrounding villages and farms were limited to 40 kilograms each. All of them were told to prepare food for the trip.
The "relocation" was set for October 19, 1942. On that day the Jews had to appear at the German headquarters in the evening. The 468 Jews were taken by truck to a pit at the brick factory that was attached to the [local] machine and tractor station.
At first, they [the Jews] had to undress to their underwear. Then the local policemen took their belongings. The killing was carried out by German police forces. At first, they shot to death the men, then the women, and, finally, the children. However, in some cases, the children were thrown alive into the pit. Afterward, the bodies were thrown into the pit by local policemen.
