On August 18 a group of 25 German soldiers arrived in the village. They entered the homes of Jewish civilians, searching for Jews and their belongings. They [the Germans] took everything of monetary value. They arrested a total of 14 people and took them to a well at the edge of the village and also arrested a family of six. The oldest son, age 16 ,succeeded in escaping. The other victims were shot on the spot and thrown into the well. One woman in the group, the mother of six children, was bayonetted to death by the Germans and then thrown into the well.

On August 18, in the village of Izobilnoye a German murder squad of 25 men rounded up civilians [Jews]. They took them from their apartments under guard to the murder site. First of all, the Germans stole everything of value from the apartments of their victims… They took a total of 14 people - 5 men, 7 women, and two teenagers – a boy and a girl. The Kogan family, with six children, was also taken outside the village. Only the 16 year-old boy was able to hide; all the others were taken to a well and the five children were thrown alive into the well in front of their mother’s eyes. She was bayonetted to death and [her body] was thrown into the well….
