On August 3, 1942 German troops captured the passengers of a train of evacuees from Izobilnoye. The Germans ordered the evacuees to leave the train and then took almost everything the refugees had with them. The victims had to proceed by foot and remained for five days without food or water. The Germans also tortured people and cut off the beards of religious or old men. When the evacuees were taken to Novo-Aleksandrovskaya village, the 200 people, who included a number of Jews (according to some sources, 18 of them) were shot to death.
