On August 23, the German authorities and local policemen arrested twenty-six Jews, including women, children, and elderly people. They were taken to a barn in the village of Alekseyevskoye, where they were held until the next morning, receiving no food and being forbidden to go out to relieve themselves. On the next day, at 3 AM, the Germans and their collaborators took them to an old, disused mill. In its ruins, the Jews were divided into groups of eight and forced to lie face down on the ground. They were shot dead, first with pistols, and then with machine guns.
