In late July or August 1941 a group of about ten Jews was arrested in Fastov and taken to the county police station. After being beaten with sticks and abused, all of them were shot in the yard of the police station.

Ivan Lanovoy, who served as Fastov County police chief during the war years, testified at the Soviet juridical proceedings:
…In about August [1941] seven Soviet civilians were shot in the police yard because they were of Jewish origin. A grave was dug in the same place, in the police yard, and all of them were buried in it…Before they were shot, these Soviet people were forced to dance, were beaten with sticks, were abused in all possible ways and then afterwards were shot…
