Murder Story of Druzkopol Jews at the Brick Factory in the Ochłopów Area

Hungry, naked, and sick, all [the Jewish residents of Drużkopol] were driven to the outskirts of the town, to the road leading to [the village of] Ochłopów, specifically to Jewish-owned fields (the field of Moshe Hirshfeld). … And there, tortured and half dead, 900 residents of Drużkopol– parents, sisters, and brothers were forced [into the field]. They were forced to use shovels to dig their own grave, and then they were surrounded by machine-guns and shot to death. The dead, along with [some still] alive [victims], fell into the large grave and were immediately covered [with earth] by the Ukrainians. One of those who had been covered over emerged from the grave at night and ran away to the forest…. The murder operation was carried out 3 days before Rosh Hashanah [the Jewish New Year) of 1942 and that was the end of the town that we called Drużkopol. All the Jewish houses were taken by the Germans and sold to the [local] Ukrainians. Only the synagogue, our holy place, remained, tainted and embarrassed without any Jews. …
