At the end of August 1942 the Germans arrested Jews who had been evacuated to the Caucasus region. The Germans took these Jews to the Burial Mound of the First of May, near the village of Kuzhoroksaya. Thirty-six Jews - men, women, children, and elderly people- were shot to death at that location.
