Murder Story of Krasne Jews in the Barn in Krasne

…It was the Latvians who did the shooting. Other persons were not involved, as far as I know. The living quarters of the Jews, you can call them a ghetto, were surrounded by us. The Latvians drove the Jews together. Afterward, the Jews went, mostly alone [without the Latvians], to a shed that stood 50 meters away. The shootings were carried out in the barn. I was standing 40 meters from the place of the execution…. …I cannot say exactly what went on in the barn. I remember only single shots, so I assume that the Jews were killed with a shot in the neck…. I never set foot inside the Jewish ghetto, either before or after, so I have no idea how many Jews we are talking about. I cannot give you a number. Nevertheless, I think that no Jew survived that murder operation, and that Krasne could then be declared “Judenfrei.”
