In September 1941, three German soldiers, commanded by a German officer, arrived in Sitnya and rounded up all the town's Jewish residents. The Jews were taken to the edge of the nearby forest and shot there. They were buried in a grave dug in advance by non-Jewish locals, who had been forced to do so by the Germans. According to the ChGk documents, about eighteen Jewish victims – mostly elderly people, women, and children – were shot on that day.
