Murder story of Volodarka Jews in the Volodarka Town Park

Murder Site
Volodarka
Ukraine (USSR)
In July 1941, a very short time after the start of the German occupation of Volodarka, about a dozen local Jews were arrested and held in the building of the former secondary school. From there they were taken to the town park overlooking the Ros River, forced to dig their own graves, and then were shot to death, apparently by members of a unit belonging to Einsatzgruppe C. Later, in the second half of 1941 or in 1942, about 200 Jews from nearby villages were taken to Volodarka and murdered at the same site. It has not been possible to identity the perpetrators of this mass murder.

Two days later two more people [Jews] were found and shot. Afterwards Jews from other places, a total of about 200 people, were brought from other places and all of them were shot.

From the Testimony of Fekla Pustolyuk, who was born in 1897, against Iosif Liskov, former county and village auxiliary police chief of Volodarka, November 25, 1945:
…In his capacity as chief of the [Volodarka] rural [auxiliary] police, Liskov came to my apartment in the fall of 1941, I do not remember the month, to conduct a house search. During this house search Liskov took all my property, including a bicycle…When all the property had been taken outside, I started to beg Liskov to return to me the bicycle of my son. To this Liskov replied: “Your husband went to defend the Jews, the kikes. He is a Communist. Do not ask [for anything] or you will be in the pit you see being dug over there." Here he pointed to the pit, which was being dug by persons unknown to me, where the Jews were shot afterwards. He took his gun out of its holster and shoved it into my face, saying “Now I am going to shoot you and nothing will happen to me.” On that same day the Germans shot the Jews - women, elderly people, and children - near my house; Liskov was with the Germans, keeping passersby away from the road so that they would not disturb the shooting. I observed this entire nightmare with my own eyes… After the shooting the Germans left. Liskov stayed and covered over the pit containing the bodies of those who had been shot…
