On January 1942 soldiers incarcerted in a POW camp were ordered to dig pits at the local Jewish cemetery. About 250 ghetto inmates were taken to the pits in groups of 50 and shot to death.

At the end of January 1942 the Germans ...from a murder squad began to take Jews in groups of 30-40 to a pit located between the village and the Jewish cemetery. They shot the adults and threw the children in alive. POWs had prepared the pits....
