Murder Story of Ushachi Jews at the Ushachi Russian Orthodox Cemetery

On January 12, 1942, the local police rounded up about 925 Jews from Ushachi and took them to the Russian Orthodox cemetery located in the vicinity. Local Jews were ordered to dig two pits at the cemetery. All the Jews taken to the pits were forced to undress and then were shot to death. Their possessions were carried off by local policemen and Germans. Several days after the operation about 200 Jews from Kublichi were taken to the Ushachi ghetto. They set fire to a house in the ghetto and tried to escape. Some died in the fire while others were taken to the pits and murdered there.

In January 1942 the police took all the Jews from the camp [ghetto] to behind the Russian cemetery, where two pits had been prepared 500 meters from the town of Ushachi. The groups of Jews included old people and infants. When they were brought to the pits, the Germans forced them to undress to their underwear, lie down in rows and, then, they shot them with submachine-guns.... Thus, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., they shot to death 900 civilians and then covered over the pits.
