In November (September, according to some testimonies), 1941 about 400 Jews of Tyvrov of all ages and both sexes were collected at the building of the former synagogue. From there they were loaded onto trucks and taken to the same place in the forest outside Tyvrov and shot at the anti-tank trenches. According to some testimonies the shooting was preceded by abuse of the victims. The perpetrators of this massacre were members of Einsatzkommando 5 of Einsatzgruppe C, assisted by local auxiliaries.
After the massacre the forest where the mass murder was carried began to be referred to by local residents as "The Black Forest."
