On the eve of the mass murder operation of March 15, 1942, 70-80 Jews from the village of Zhudilovo, located about 20-25 kilometers from Unecha, together with some 30 Roma people (including children), were brought to the ghetto in Unecha. Some sources indicate that baptized Jews were also taken to the ghetto and shot together with the rest of the Jewish population. On the day of the massacre, the Jews were beaten with rifle butts and forced out of the ghetto. Most of them were not fully dressed. They were led past a poultry-processing plant toward the murder site, where pits had been dug by local residents. The guards leading the Jews to the murder site were drunk.

The ChGK report from Unecha
When the site near the water pumping station became filled [with bodies], a location near a hay warehouse was chosen…. In March 1942, 342 Jews and Roma were shot [there] in a single operation. There were women and children among them. The adults were shot one after another, while the children had their heads smashed together, and were then thrown into the pit. From time to time, hand grenades would be tossed into that pit, which was full of tormented and wounded people who were still living and moving. People would often be shot in the middle of the night. Mazorskiy [was shot in this fashion], followed by his wife Mazorskaya, Yudovich the tailor, Bazhalkin the accountant, and others.
