Murder Story of Pogrebishche Jews at the Pogrebishche Polish Cemetery

In late 1941 40 Jewish men from Pogrebishche were driven out of their houses and told that they going to be sent to work. They were taken to the Polish cemetery on the town's outskirts and shot dead in a ravine. The perpetrators of this massacre were apparently members of Einsatzgruppe C and local auxiliary policemen.

In the Polish cemetery 40 (forty) [bodies] were discovered in a ravine… The medical staff of the Commission noted that there were elderly people, young people, and male and female children among those shot. Also traces of terrible abuse and injuries were discovered on the bodies of those shot… Many children…had their heads smashed… The shootings were carried out in the back of the head with submachine-guns and pistols…
