On September 16, 1941 about 20 Jews, of all ages and both sexes, from the Pervoye Maya collective farm were taken to an abandoned well located 4 kilometers from the kolkhoz on the territory of the Yurkino state farm and shot there. The massacre was carried out by members of Sonderkommando 10a of Einsatzgruppe D and local auxiliaries.

…The citizen Kelya Korneevna Zvarich who is living on the Pervoye Maya kolkhoz of the Sholom [Aleichem] rural council in Kalininskoye [former Kalinindorf] County, Kherson [Nikolayev during the war] District, testified that she has been living on the above-mentioned kolkhoz since 1935. She was married to a Jew and had two children. She also lived on the Pervoye Maya kolkhoz during the temporary occupation by the German barbarians and was an eyewitness to the brutal atrocities committed by the Fascist occupiers on the Pervoye Maya kolkhoz. First, on September 16, 1941 the so-called Gestapo-men arrived and on this kolkhoz annihilated a total of 23 Soviet citizens, [including] innocent children. Of these 5 were men, 10 – women, and 8 - children, including her [Kelya Zvarich's] children. Her husband had been mobilized into the [Red] army in August [1941] and she had remained alone with the children. However, in September [1941], when a detachment of Gestapo-men arrived, their accomplice, a resident of the Pervoye Maya kolkhoz, Evdokim Nikolayevich Dudnik, informed the Gestapo that her husband was Jewish and that she had children from [her marriage to] this Jew. He [Dudnik] personally took her and her children to the murder site. All the other victims were also accompanied there by the German accomplice E. Dudnik….
…On this date the commission carried out an examination of the sites of atrocities committed by the German-Fascist occupiers. The examination determined that an abandoned well 4 kilometers from the Pervoye Maya kolkhoz, in the Sholom [Aleichem] rural council, on the territory of the ... Yurkino grain-growing state farm was the site where the shooting was carried out. 23 Jews, consisting of 5 men, 10 women, and 8 children, were shot to death…
