Murder Story of Pioner Kolkhoz Jews at the Shevchenko State Farm

On October 19, 1941 members of a unit apparently belonging to Einsatzgruppe D, together with local auxiliary policemen, concentrated about 20 families of Jewish collective farmers of the Pioner kolkhoz, a total of about 80 people, in the local school building. From there all the Jews were taken by truck to an abandoned well on the Shevchenko state farm 3 kilometers east of the Pioner kolkhoz and shot dead; their bodies were thrown into the well.

…On this date the commission carried out an examination of the sites of atrocities committed by German-Fascist occupiers. The examination determined that an abandoned well 3 kilometers from the Pioner collective farm in the area of the Sholom [Aleichem] rural council, east of the territory of the Berislav Shevchenko grain-growing state farm was the site where the shooting of 84 innocent Jewish residents of the Pioner kolkhoz, consisting of 10 men, 48 women and 26 children, took place.

Documentation of the Soviet Extraordinary State Commission, regarding the murder and persecution of Jews, non-Jews and Soviet POWs in the Kalinindorf district, 1944
... Citizen Marfa Vasilyevna Malchikova, who lives on the Pioner collective farm in the area of the Sholom [Aleichem] rural council, Kalinindorf County, Kherson District, testifies that a mass shooting of Jews took place upon the entrance of German-Fascist occupiers. [The Jews] were driven to the [local]]school, where they were loaded onto trucks and taken in the direction of the Berislav Shevchenko grain-growing state farm…. Citizen Mariya Grigoryevna Shapovalova testified that the shooting of 20 Jewish families of the Pioner kolkhoz in the area of the Sholom [Aleichem] rural council took place on October 19, 1941. They [the Jews] were loaded onto trucks by 5 Germans from a German-Fascist murder squad and taken to a field of the Berislav Shevchenko grain-growing state farm to an abandoned well 3 kilometers east of the Pioner kolkhoz… Citizen Victor Fyodorovich Andrushchenko…testifies that Ivan Kuzmich Samoylov, who was at that time the head of this [the Pioner] kolkhoz, took part in the shooting of the Jews by the German-Fascist SS murder squad at the well and threw [the bodies] of the Jews who had been shot into the well. Semyon Spiridonovich Belyi, who at that time was the police chief, participated in the concentration of the Jews in the school and guarded the Jews to prevent them from escaping while they were being loaded onto the trucks. Comrade Andrushchenko also confirmed that 25 families of 84 people were shot and that [i.e. after] they were taken in the direction of the Berislav Shevcheko grain-growing state farm, 3 kilometers east of the Pioner kolkhoz….
