Between July 1 and 15, 1942 an SD unit shot to death 1,029 Jewish prisoners of war and 18 Krymchak [Jewish] refugees from Sevastopol at the Bakhchisaray prisoner of war transit camp (Dulag) and threw their bodies into the nearby Egis-Oba (Bakhchisaray) reservoir. Most of the victims originally came from the Tole POW camp.

From the activity report of Local Commandants Office II/576 (V) Bakhchisarai, for the period between July 1-15, 1942 ... The SD reports that in the period from July 1-15, 1942 they arrested and drowned 1,029 Jews. Most of the Jews originally came from the Tole POW Camp; some of them [18 Krymchak Jews] were refugees who had been held in the refugee camp. Among the Jews were two politruks (political officers) and one commissar....
