On September 3, 1941, 13 Jews from Ratendorf, together with a non-Jewish woman and her two daughters, were murdered at a well 200 meters north of Ratendorf. The perpetrators were apparently members of Einsatzgruppe D.

…On September 3, 1941, 16 persons of various ages and of both sexes were shot 200 meters north of Rottendorf [sic, for Ratendorf] and thrown into a… well. There was a Russian family among them: Ekaterina Kuznetsova and her two daughters, Luba and Valentina.
