Murder Story of Frunze Jews at the Burat Well

During the night of February 28, 1942 the Germans took 17 Frunze Jews to the old, 70-meter deep Burat well that was located about 3 kilometers north of Frunze village. The Jews were shot by an SS unit and their bodies were thrown into the well.

... At the end of February 1942, I don't remember the exact date…, at night, the Germans took all the Jews to the old Burat well, about 3 kilometers from our village and shot all of the 17 people. At about 11 a.m, I saw a local policeman … carrying the clothes of the murdered Jews…. The Germans warned all of the local population not to say that the Jews had been shot but rather that they had been taken for work; otherwise, they [the local residents] would be shot. That's all I know....
