On October 11 (September 16, according to the inscription on the monument erected after the war), 1941 Germans assembled about 70 Jews, mostly women, children and old people, from the villages of Lvovo and Krasnyi Burgun, took them to a ravine between the villages of Lvovo and Krasnyi Burgun, 1 kilometer northwest of the latter, and shot them dead. The mass murder was carried out by a detachments of Einsatzgruppe D.

…On October 10, 1941 I was home, I was just about to go out on some errand [when] I suddenly saw Jews, about 76 of them, being pushed along. They were forced along by about 6 Germans with sticks in their hands. Suddenly a German started to beat an old woman who could not keep up the pace. After that I became upset. I could not watch anymore and went back into the house. When they had been driven past my courtyard and to the ravine, I went out to see where they had been driven, but I only saw 3 cars waiting there and some Germans at the ravine. The air was full of dust that had probably been raised when they the bodies of the Jews] had been covered with earth…

On October 11, 1941 I had just returned home from the steppe and was starting to put the house in order when I suddenly saw a column of people coming down the street. At first I could not grasp what was going on: I thought that the Germans were taking prisoners somewhere. When they approached my yard, I recognized several Jews I knew. There were a total of about 75 of them being pushed along by Germans who had sticks in their hands and were beating old people and children and shouting in their language that they [the Jews] should move faster. After they had passed by, I went for water to [the river] bank and I heard shooting...after that I returned home from the river bank and looked out from my yard. I could see them [the Jews] being buried....
