On October 29, 1941, 215 residents of Oster – including Jews, partisans, and Communist Party activists – were taken out of the town by Sonderkommando 4a and led to the local airfield, where they were shot. Another thirty Jews and partisans were shot by the same Sonderkommando in the same location on November 7, 1941.
