A unit of Sonderkommando 7b arrived in Sosnitsa on September 9, 1941. Three days later some Soviet activists of the town and a few Jews were shot by the Germans in a ravine near the village of Vyunishche. The Jews were probably residents from other places who were fleeing but were caught in Sosnitsa. On November 16, 1941, with the aid of Ukrainian police, a German murder squad and Hungarian soldiers shot the remaining Jews, numbering at least 66, at the same murder site. The last mass shooting of Sosnitsa Jews in the ravine near Vyunishche was carried out on March 10, 1942, when about 100 Jews were shot. A total of about 300 Jews from Sosnitsa were murdered near Vyunishche during the German occupation.
