The first mass shooting of Kholmy’s Jews was carried out on November 29, 1941. On orders from the German commander’s office and with the help of local Ukrainian police all the Jews from Kholmy were arrested and shot close to the forester’s office near the village of Rudnya in Koryukovka County. 19 Kholmy Jews, including 8 between the ages of 68 and 71 and 7 between the ages of 3 weeks and 12 years, were killed. On January 12, 1942 some Jews from Kholmy County, including at least 4 from Kozilovka, were shot at the same mass murder site. A total of about 50 Jews from Kholmy and Kholmy County were murdered near Rudnya.
