According to testimonies, in the course of 1941 and 1942 a number of Jews of Pokrovskoye, together with Roma (Gypsies), living in the village were sent to Gulyay Pole , where there was an office of the Security Police and the SD, and shot there or murdered in gas vans.

From the testimony of Ivan Koval, who was born in 1887:
…moreover, Jewish families and Gypsies, they all were sent to the Gestapo in Gulyay Pole. As I know from eyewitnesses they were shot there or killed in gas vans. For example, in the spring of 1942 two Jewish families of 5 persons and three Gypsy families of five adults and 9 children were arrested. There was flooding and they all were transported across a river in a boat. In the process one Jewish girl went mad. According to rumors, they were shot in Gulyay Pole.
