On November 13, 1941 20 Jews from Gornostayevka and Dobryanka were shot in the area of the latter village. According to some German sources, the shooting was carried out by the German 416th Reserve Battalion or by the 202nd Replacement Brigade, which was attached to the 62nd Infantry Division, as revenge for the killing of a single German soldier.
