In November 1941 a German detachment arrived in Naybrot. Assisted by the village elder, the Germans assembled 26 Jews from the village, took them 1.5-2 kilometers outside the village, and shot them at one of the wells there. Local residents referred to three different locations in the steppe as the murder site.

... At the end of 1941 some Gestapo men arrived in the village of Naybrot by truck. Together with the village elder, M. Shcheglov, they assembled all the Jewish population and took them outside the village, where they shot them. When the people were being taken from the village a civilian named Buzya Shulman tried to avoid being arrested but he was shot for this on the spot in the street....
