On September 4, 1941 the remaining Jews of Zapyškis, consisting of men, women, and children, were taken to the banks of the Neiman River near the village of Dievogala. They were shot and buried in a common grave one kilometer southeast of the village. According to a report by Karl Jaeger, head of Einsatzgruppe 3A, 47 men, 118 women, and 13 children were killed there.
