Soon after the beginning of the German occupation of Gorodok, in late June 1941 Germans and local policemen rounded up 11 Jewish men, the entire Jewish male population of Gorodok. Two were murdered on the spot, the other 9 were taken by truck several kilometers northwest to the village of Simonovichi, where they were shot near the road to Slutsk.
