In January 1942 the Germans and local policemen held all the Jews of Lapichi in three houses for several hours. Afterwards, the majority were allowed to return home, except for 10-12 of the elderly and youths. They were taken out of the village and shot to death.

From the memories of Inna Voinova, who lived in Lapichi since 1937:
... In January 1942 policemen and Germans again surrounded the village and forced all the Jews into three buildings. Everyone was certain that this was the end. However, after the people were detained for 2-3 hours, it was announced that everyone could return home to bring from there whatever warm winter clothing they had… Then they were told to disperse because a killing unit had not arrived from Osipovichi. But on that day the old men and some young men were not released to bring their things. They (ten or twelve of them) were taken outside of town and shot. The father of Aunt Tony and Elya (Ilya) Kulbak (the son of [the Yiddish poet] Moshe Kulbak) were killed on the same day....
