Larinfeld

Larinfeld (Larino) was established as a Jewish agricultural settlement in the mid-1920s, under Soviet rule. Most of the settlers were Jews arriving from all the regions of Ukraine. In the late 1920s, Larinfeld became the center of a rural council comprising six settlements (3 Jewish and 3 Ukrainian ones). It had a Jewish school and kindergarten. Several mixed collective farms were established in the vicinity of Larinfeld, including a Jewish farm named "Collectivizer". The Jews of Larinfeld made their living mostly from agriculture and the crafts. In 1939, the settlement was home to 748 Jews, who comprised 54.6 percent of a total population. Larinfeld was occupied by the Germans in mid-August 1941. Most of the local Jews were shot, most probably on April 30, 1942. Larinfeld was liberated by the Red Army in late February 1944. Nowadays, the settlement no longer exists.
