Zyrowice
Poland
In 1897, the village of Żyrowicze was home to 76 Jews, who made up 12.5 percent of the total population. During the interwar period, Żyrowicze was part of Poland. In September 1939, the village was occupied by the Soviet Union and annexed to the Belorussian SSR. The Germans occupied Żyrowicze in late June 1941. In September that year, the 162 Jews of Żyrowicze were led six kilometers southwest, to the nearby village of Glowsiewicze, where they were shot. Żyrowicze was liberated by the Red Army in July 1944.
