The village of Novaya Karakuba was founded in the early 19th century by former residents of the village of Karakuba (present-day Razdolnoye), most of them Greeks. In 1929, during the Soviet period, the Telman collective farm was established in the village. While there is no information about the presence of Jews in the village before the Soviet-German War, some Jews apparently came to Novaya Karakuba following the Nazi invasion of the USSR in late June 1941. These were Jewish refugees from the western regions of the country.
Novaya Karakuba was occupied by the Germans in mid-October 1941. Several dozen of those Jews were murdered in the area of the village.
Novaya Karakuba was liberated by the Red Army in mid-September 1943. In 1948, the village was renamed Krasnaya Polyana.
