Stary Kermenchik
Ukraine (USSR)
Stary Kermenchik was founded in 1779 as a Greek colony, and it was originally named Kermenchik. In 1913, its name was changed to Stary Kermenchik. Little is known about the Jewish presence in the village. Apparently, Jewish refugees from various areas of the Zaporozhye District arrived in Stary Kermenchik before its occupation by German troops on October 10, 1941. The local Jews were shot in the vicinity of the village in late winter – early March 1942. Stary Kermenchik was liberated by the Red Army on September 12, 1943. In 1947, the village was renamed Staromlinovka.
