Natyrbovo
Russia (USSR)
Prior to the Russian Revolution, the Koshekhablsky County had lain outside the Pale of Settlement. Hence, no Jews lived in the village of Natyrbovo before the outbreak of the Soviet-German War. However, in the aftermath of the German invasion of the USSR on June 22, 1941, the Koshekhablsky County came to house a large number of civilian evacuees, including many Jews. The Germans occupied Natyrbovo in early August 1942. The occupiers then announced a registration of all the local Jews. The new administration deceived the Jews by telling them that they would be safe as long as they cooperated with the occupiers. The few Jews remaining in the village were ordered to do hard labor. In November 1942, more than twelve people were killed by German soldiers in the vicinity of the village. The Red Army liberated Natyrbovo in the first days of February 1943.
