Korenovskaya
Russia (USSR)
Since the town of Korenovskaya was outside the tsarist Pale of Settlement, no Jews lived there even after the Bolshevik Revolution. However, with the German invasion of the USSR on June 22, 1941, Korenovskaya County became a refuge for people, including Jews, fleeing the invaders. German forces captured Korenovskaya on August 6, 1942. On an unknown date during the occupation of the town, the Germans arrested local Jews, took them to the military airfield, and there killed approximately 120 people. The Red Army liberated Korenovskaya on February 6, 1943.
