Antonovka was founded as a Jewish agricultural colony in 1837. Under Soviet rule, in the 1920s 39 Jewish families worked there. In 1930 the settlement was transformed into the Rassvet ("Dawn") kolkhoz.
Of the original 39 Jewish families only 10 were still working on the land there when the Germans occupied the area. Most of the Jews in Krichev County, including 18 Jews from Antonovka, were murdered in the fall of 1941.
Antonovka was liberated by the Red Army in June 1944.
