The Jewish community in Komarin was established in the 19th century. At the end of the 1920s approximately 50 percent of the local Jews were artisants and 15 percent were merchants. In 1929 a kolkhoz was founded in the area and 20 families worked on it. In 1939 500 Jews lived in Komarin, where they comprised 29 percent of the population. The Germans occupied Komarin on August 28, 1941. The local Jews were murdered in September and October 1941. Komarin was liberated by the Red Army in November 1943.
