Jews lived in Buda Koshelevo starting in the 19th century. During the early Soviet era many local Jews worked in local kolkhozes that were established in the vicinity. In 1939 the town's 469 Jews comprised 13.9 percent of the total population. The Germans occupied the town on August 14, 1941. Soon afterward a ghetto was established in the town and the local Jews were incarcerated in it. All of the local Jews, along with Jews from vilages in the vicinity, were murdered on December 27, 1941 and buried near the village of Krasnyi Kurgan. Buda Koshelevo was liberated by the Red Army on November 27, 1943.
