Dobrovelichkovka
Ukraine (USSR)
Jews began to settle in Dobrovelichkovka in the early 19th century. In 1897 the 1,718 Jews living there comprised around 60 percent of the total village population. From the early 1920s a Yiddish school operated in the village. In 1939, due to migration to larger towns, the Jewish population of the village declined to only 366 people or 10 percent of the total population. Dobrovelichkovka was occupied by German troops on August 1, 1941. Prior to a murder operation all the Jews in the County were registered and their houses marked with a Star of David. The Jews of Dobrovelichkovka were shot in late December 1941 in Maryevka village. Dobrovelichkovka was liberated by the Red Army on March 17, 1944.
