In 1811 144 Jews lived in Bogushevsk. During the early Soviet period a Yiddish elementary school operated in the town. In 1939 the 569 local Jews comprised 17.3 percent of a total population.
The Germans occupied Bogushevsk on July 10, 1941. All the local Jews were murdered in a number of murder operations in 1941.
The Red Army liberated Bogushevsk on June 25, 1944.
