Jews started to settle in Korma in the first half of the 19th century. Most of Korma's Jews were craftsmen or traders in grain and lumber. During the Soviet period a kolkhoz named Chervonyi Muravei operated in Korma. Until the mid-1930s the town had a traditional Jewish primary religious school and a Yiddish school. In 1939 Korma's 981 Jews comprised 40.7 percent of the total population. The Germans occupied Korma on August 15, 1941. Soon thereafter two ghettoes were set up - on Shkolnaya and Abaturov Streets. During the night of November 7-8, 1941 all the local Jews were murdered in the vicinity of Korma. Korma was liberated by the Red Army on November 26, 1943.
