Sloboda was a Jewish agricultural settlement established in 1831. During the early Soviet period the settlement became the Rotfeld (Red Field) kolkhoz. A Yiddish elementary school operated in Sloboda. Before the war 23 Jewish and 3 Belorassian families lived in Sloboda.

The Germans occupied Sloboda at the end of June or the beginning of July 1941.

Almost all of Sloboda's Jews were murdered on October 6, 1941.

Sloboda was liberated by the Red Army in the summer of 1944.
