Pavoloch

Jews first settled in Pavoloch at the beginning of the 16th century. In 1736 35 Jews were murdered in a pogrom there. In the 20th century, during the Russian civil war, pogroms took place even though the local Jews had formed a self-defense unit. In the early Soviet period Pavlovich had a Jewish school and a kindergarten. In 1925 an agricultural cooperative was established with 14 families. In 1926 1,507 Jews were living in Pavoloch.

German troops occupied Pavoloch in mid-June 1941. On September 25, 1941 all the Jews of Pavoloch were murdered in the area of the local cemetery.

The Red Army liberated Pavoloch in December 1943.
