Naydorf (Yiddish for "new village") was founded as a Jewish farming settlement in 1928 with the support of the American organization Agro-Joint. Naydorf was occupied by the Germans in the late fall of 1941. In April 1942 38 Jews (women and children only) were shot to death by an SD unit. Naydorf was liberated by the Red Army in April 1944 and after the war renamed Novaya Derevnya.
