Krasnoselovka

Krasnoselovka was founded in 1845 as a agricultural colony by Jews from Vitebsk and Mogilev (Belorussia). In 1918 and 1921 the population of the colony suffered from robbery, violence, and murder during pogroms. In 1929 the colony became part of the Novozlatopol Ethnic Jewish County and a kolkhoz named after Roza Luxemburg was established in Krasnoselka; 475 people were working on the kolkhoz in 1938. Krasnoselovka was occupied by the Germans at the beginning of October 1941. On the eve of the Simchat Torah holiday 113 Jews were shot to death in a silage pit. Krasnoseovlka was liberated by the Red Army in mid-September 1943.
