Der Emes (Yiddish for "truth") was established in the early 1930s as a Jewish sovkhoz. It was occupied by the German troops in late September-early October 1941. On February 28, 1942, 24 Jews of Der Emes were shot to death at an anti-tank trench 500 meters from the northern edge of the village. In April 1944 Der Emes was liberated by the Red Army; in 1948 it was renamed Pravda.
